Veil of cultural pride and love

Love, heritage, and a hint of magic – this is the story of a veil that crossed borders from Skopje to the Netherlands and to Ohrid. Anita and I first connected online, bonding over a post about the iconic Skopje graffiti “Te dua Dragana.” Our online conversations soon turned into a real-life meeting when she visited my atelier in Skopje during the summer.

Months later, with wedding bells on the horizon, I was thrilled to be asked to create her veil. Seeking to infuse it with layers of personal and cultural significance, I suggested we enrich the design—featuring poppies that remind her of Macedonia and are also part of our national emblem—with phrases that echo their love and heritage.

We incorporated heartfelt love phrases and the powerful motivational quote “Samo napred“ (Go ahead), a phrase her father often uses to encourage her. Alongside the talented Julijana Rosoklija who crafted the stunning illustration, we brought this vision to life. She was enchanted!

Crafting this 3.70m veil was a story for itself– from selecting the right shade to perfecting the embroidery, and adding the delicate final touches before hand-finishing and careful packaging. It traveled packed like a dreamy cloud, ready to be part of Anita and Isak special day.
